What attracted you to the Seifert Scholars program?
I was drawn to the Seifert Scholars program because it provided a unique opportunity to
dedicate my summer to research. This allowed me to fully immerse myself in the lab, something I couldn’t do during the busy fall and spring semesters.
What is your research?
My research focuses on repurposing thymosin beta-4 (TB4) as a potential treatment for Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK), a severe eye infection. TB4 has shown promising effects intreating corneal degenerative diseases. My project, titled “Assessing thymosin beta-4 as a novel treatment for Acanthamoeba keratitis,” aims to explore this therapeutic potential for AK
infection.
What has been the impact of the Seifert Scholars on your career?
The Seifert Scholars program has been instrumental in shaping my career path. Through it, I discovered my passion for research, which ultimately led me to pursue a master’s degree in Dr. Temesvari’s lab.
What is the next step of your career?
After obtaining my Master’s in Biological Sciences, I plan to continue my career in research, specifically in the industry sector.
