Biosketch
Hao Wu, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Clemson University Institute for Human Genetics, working with Fabio Morgante and Trudy Mackay. He began his academic career at the University of Liverpool, where he earned a B.S. in biological sciences with a specialization in bioinformatics. He then received an M.S. in biostatistics from the University of California, Davis. Wu earned his Ph.D. in biostatistics from Michigan State University under the mentorship of Gustavo de los Campos. His doctoral research focused on developing statistical and machine learning methods for genomic prediction, quantitative genetics and complex trait analysis.
Research Interests
Wu’s research focuses on developing statistical and computational methods for genomic prediction and the analysis of complex traits using high-dimensional genomic and multi-omics data. His interests include transfer learning, Bayesian methods, statistical genetics, machine learning and scalable algorithms for analyzing biobank-scale datasets. His work aims to improve genomic prediction, advance understanding of the genetic architecture of complex traits and develop computational methods broadly applicable across human genetics, plant breeding and animal breeding.
