Dr. Khan is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Public Health Sciences at Clemson University. Prior to joining Clemson, he served as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Cleveland State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Biostatistics (Big Data Track) from the Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Khan began his research career in Bangladesh after completing his first master’s degree in Statistics. Over the next eight years, he held faculty and research positions at Jahangirnagar University, Comilla University, and ASA University Bangladesh. He also earned a second M.S. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Florida Atlantic University.
Research Interests
Dr. Khan’s research focuses on the development and application of biostatistical methods to address clinical, biomedical, behavioral, and population health research questions. His methodological interests include longitudinal and repeated-measures analysis, mixed-effects models, Bayesian methods, clinical trial design, functional data analysis, and the analysis of large and complex biomedical datasets. He also integrates machine learning and data science approaches with biostatistical methods to improve disease prediction and clinical decision-making. His collaborative research spans chronic disease, mental health, substance use, maternal and child health, cancer, and biomedical research.
Dr. Khan is particularly interested in expanding his research to high-dimensional genomic and multi-omics data. His long-term goal is to design and apply robust statistical and computational methods that integrate molecular and clinical data to better understand disease mechanisms, identify clinically meaningful biomarkers, and support precision medicine. Through collaborations within the Clemson Institute for Human Genetics, he aims to contribute biostatistical expertise to interdisciplinary research in genomics, genetics, and precision medicine.
