Congrats to Dike!
Congrats to Dike, who has successfully defended his research proposal and is now a PhD candidate!
Dr. Lucas de Brito Ayres
Dr. Ayres earned his bachelor in Pharmacy-Biochemistry from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and has already worked with Drs. Do Lago and Gutz on analytical Instrumentation, specifically by developing chemical instruments based on open-source technologies (e.g. Arduino, 3D printers and Android). His thesis PhD Thesis was focused on low-cost sensors, instrumentation, and artificial intelligence. Learn more at:
Dr. Tomas E. Benavidez
Dr. Benavidez graduated with a BS in Biochemistry (2004) and a PhD in Chemistry (2010) from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina under the supervision of Dr. Baruzzi. After working with Dr. Schmickler and Dr. Santos at Universität Ulm (Germany), Dr. Benavidez joined the lab to investigate the effect of potential applied during the adsorption of macromolecules to different carbon-based nanostructured films (2012-2017). Tomas then returned to Argentina and since then has become Adjoint Researcher at CONICET – Argentina. Learn more at:
Dr. Angie E. Orduz Navas
Dr. Orduz obtained her B.S. in Chemistry from Universidad Industrial de Santander (Bucaramanga, Colombia) in 2017. In 2018, she began her doctoral studies at Universidad Nacional del Sur (Bahía Blanca, Argentina), supported by a CONICET doctoral fellowship at the Instituto de Química del Sur (INQUISUR). Since then, she has been actively involved in teaching roles at the same institution. She completed her doctoral studies in July 2024. During her doctoral studies, her research focused on preconcentration and removal of contaminants using adsorbent materials such as biopolymers, carbon nanotubes, and inorganic solids, within the fields of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry.
