CNI hosts a summer interns program in which students from high school, students enrolled in the REU program, and students from other institutions in SC receive hands-on training on existing state-of-the-art synthesis and spectroscopy equipment.

(i) Projects in which high school students participated 

Clemson researchers decode thermal conductivity in thermoelectrics using light.

“Father of Thermoelectrics” teams up with Clemson researchers to develop a new evaluation method

(ii) Projects in which undergraduate students participated

a) URM undergraduate students from Claflin University preparing battery and supercapacitor electrode materials at CNI during summer 2019.

Their projects were presented at the Southeastern Section of the American Physical Society (SESAPS) conference in Knoxville, TN, leading to joint refereed publications in high-impact journals.

b) Two REU students conducted research on the performance of different electrolytes in lithium-sulfur batteries during summer 2022. They studied various facets of battery electrochemistry ranging from different computational models of batteries to electrolyte behavior near the electrodes.
