Biosketch:
Gianni Martino received a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Mercer University, before completing a Graduate Certificate in Data Science at the University of Indiana Bloomington. While attending Mercer University, he engaged in organic chemistry research focused upon the synthesis of a novel class of isoxazole-containing thiourea inhibitors of herpes zoster. Gianni is now a PhD student in the Biomedical Data Science and Informatics program and a member of Dr. Miriam Konel’s lab.
Research:
Gianni’s research is focused upon leveraging computational approaches and next generation sequencing in order to characterize the broad impacts of mobile genomic elements on the human transcriptome.
