3D learning resources

 

We are providing links to some resources we find useful when planning lessons that incorporate the 3 dimensional model of learning used by Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and many state standards. This model incorporates Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs), CrossCutting Concepts (CCCs), and the disciplinary core ideas.

• SEP cards and CCC cards for each grade level generated by various members of the St. Clair County Regional Education Service Agency. They also provide graphic organizer tools for CCCs.

• CCC sentence starters compiled from the Council of Chief State School Officers. See their report on CCCs for additional information about using CCCs and additional CCC prompt questions.

• Phenomena are observable events from the world that science can explain, whether they are demonstrations, case studies, observations of living beings, or data sets. Using a phenomenon within a lesson can provide driving questions and an anchor, a “hook” and investigative focus for lessons, or center student experience. There are a number of excptional resources for teaching with phenomena:
