This project aimed at obtaining fundamental data on the reactivity and combustibility of Chemical Warfare Agents (CWA) in reactive atmospheres generated in kinetic defeat environments. Specifically determine the reactivity of GB, HD, and VX in various atmospheres at temperatures ranging from 300 to 1000 K. Characterize the reaction products and if possible determine the mechanism of reaction. In addition, determine the pool fire probability and evaporation potential of CWA as an ongoing source term for defeat and downwind collateral prediction.
Funding for this project was provided by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency contract # HDTRA1-16-1-0030, via Southwest Research Institute.
