This 2022 ACREC proposal seeks to continue exploring existing technology with an aim of commercializing the material as a viable strategy for metal/inorganic removal from rendered fat products. The development and commercialization of an inexpensive and convenient method for the removal of metal and inorganic contaminants from rendered fat will be beneficial to the industry because it will serve to improve the quality of rendered fat feedstocks for use in renewable biodiesel refining and other higher-value applications.
