Understanding the roles of genes in cellular processes is fundamental to biology. Genetic screening techniques have been pivotal in this pursuit, but scaling them to cover entire genomes remains a challenge. In collaboration with Megan Abravanel on her project, we propose exploring MuSIC barcodes, a novel approach based on fluorescence multiplexing with spectral imaging and combinatorics, for single-cell genetic interaction screening at a genome-wide scale. This research could revolutionize our understanding of genetic function and pave the way for transformative applications in various fields.
