Kyle Bristow
Kyle is a rising junior at Clemson University, majoring in chemistry with a minor in biological sciences. He is working alongside Professor Brumaghim on the development of a deoxyribose assay to test the effectiveness of antioxidant polyphenols as radioprotectants. This past year, he presented at the 7th Annual Clemson University Student Research Forum and received the Outstanding Student in Organic Chemistry award from Clemson University. Kyle is excited to be working alongside Professor Brumaghim as little is known about how galactic cosmic radiation damages DNA. Further research into this field would allow people to both improve and take advantage of current medical technologies. Kyle is passionate about the medicinal and biomedical applications of chemistry and how chemistry can be used to improve quality of life. Going forward, he would like to expand his knowledge of pharmaceutical chemistry and the research behind drug development and discovery.
