The program is composed of State Agricultural Education Directors, SC Association of Agricultural Educators Board Members, Clemson Agricultural Education Program Faculty and Students, FFA Alumni Representative and the SC FFA Foundation Director. The SC STAR committee meets multiple times a year to create goals and strategies implemented through various projects that are focused on the recruitment of students to become agricultural educators, preservice retention by supporting student-teachers with resources and encouragement, and current teacher retention by assisting new teachers with resources and support.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

One of the main reasons we \u2018TAG’ students is because there is a high demand for agricultural education teachers in South Carolina and throughout the United States. Career potential across the state and nation is due to the addition of new programs, the expansion of programs to include more teachers, and the retirement of current teachers. Secondary schools value the unique aspects of an agricultural education program which includes a three component model of classroom and laboratory instruction, a Supervised Agricultural Education Experience (SAE) and participation in the FFA organization. This model is naturally designed to include rigorous science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) based instruction, experiential learning and leadership development skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

In South Carolina, we \u2018TAG\u2019 students through a strategy led by the SCAAE. Our state agricultural educators receive information annually to identify students in their program that they feel would make great agricultural educators. Once students are identified and selected, they become \u2018TAG\u2019 members of the yearly cohort. Each year the cohort is recognized at the SC FFA State Convention. Teachers, please look out for communication from SCAAE regarding details for submitting contact information for your \u2018TAG\u2019 students.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
