This initiative is designed to assist graduate students who are actively participating in conferences, workshops, and other scholarly activities outside the university. The application period is typically a two week window towards the end of each semester for travel in the following semester

Grant Details

The Graduate Student Government’s travel grant is designed as a supplemental funding system to help support Clemson graduate students’ travel to conferences and other professional development events. All graduate students will have a fair opportunity to receive funds, based on their ability to convince peer-reviewers that their event is worthwhile. Applicants must peer-review other applications on criteria clearly known before applications are due, and will receive clear feedback on their application after the review process. The GTG provides financial assistance to graduate students to cover expenses related to travel, lodging, and registration fees for academic events. This support underscores the GSG’s commitment to enhancing the educational experiences of our students by enabling them to present their research, network with other professionals, and gain new insights in their fields.

Application Details

Maximum funding amounts are $750 for domestic events and $1000 for international events, including Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. Territories.

Eligibility and detailed application instructions are available in the GTG Applicant Instruction Manual

All applications require a double-blind peer review process, where you will also participate in reviewing fellow applicants.

Application Process:

Visit the GTG portal to register and apply once the applications are open

Ensure all sections of the application are completed thoroughly which includes a Funding Justification Essay and an attestation from you professor

Peer reviews are mandatory for eligibility; failure to complete assigned reviews will disqualify your application.

Additional Support:

For detailed guidance and help, refer to the GTG Applicant Instruction Manual or contact the GTG Committee at gtgs@clemson.edu.

GSO Travel Grant

The Graduate Student Organization Travel Grant is a yearly department modest fund that is operated by the Graduate Program Coordinator and GSO on behalf of the department.
