About EPIC<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mission Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n EPIC is dedicated to advancing the understanding of the molecular mechanisms regulating virulence of eukaryotic pathogens. The center carries out the mission through the expertise of its faculty, education, cutting-edge research, intramural and extramural collaborations, publications, faculty participation in scientific meetings, and public outreach.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Many Heads Better Than One<\/strong><\/p>\n We appreciate the value of collaborative research. The shared infrastructure of the Life Sciences Facility provides a unique environment for critical inquiry and scholarly exchange. It fosters an atmosphere of teamwork, mentoring and informal peer review. We share our knowledge. EPIC members participate in international meetings and publish prolifically, with over 54,000 citations since our inception. We learn from others. Our researchers collaborate with scientists at other institutions across the country and throughout the world.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Our Ideas Are Getting Funded<\/strong><\/p>\n The center receives the bulk of its funding from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. Over the past decade, EPIC researchers have secured more than $61 million in federal funding. However, in today\u2019s increased competition for federal dollars, we also seek collaborative partnerships with industry and private foundations.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A Legacy<\/strong><\/p>\n We appreciate that research impacting global health should never stop. Therefore, we are creating a legacy of scientific inquiry by training the next generation of scientists.
