In addition to offering a full-service genomics lab and bioinformatics team, we pride ourselves in offering training to students, post-docs and faculty to work alongside our staff members to learn genomic and bioinformatic techniques. The suite of short-read Illumina sequencers available at Clemson University allows us to leverage the applications of Illumina\u2019s MiSeq, NextSeq 2000 and NovaSeq X to suit your sequencing needs. Our relationship with external genomic facilities enables us to facilitate long-read sequencing using PacBio technology.<\/p>\n

We provide training and service opportunities across a variety of bioinformatics techniques including, but not limited to de novo assemblies, resequencing, differential gene expression analyses, differential peak calling, variant discovery, and annotation of genomic and transcriptomic datasets. Mission<\/h2>\n

The mission of the Clemson University Genomics and Bioinformatics facility is to\u00a0facilitate research and creative scholarly activities and equip our faculty, students and staff in the areas of genomics and bioinformatics; from project conception to publication.\u00a0 The facility operates in a secure, centralized, and easily accessible format that supports collaborative data intensive research.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Our mission aligns with the College of Sciences strategic plan, AccelerateScience<\/em>, which holds Human Health, Biodiversity and Sustainability, and Data and Information Science as three of its seven discovery pillars.<\/span><\/p>\n

History<\/h2>\n

The College of Science created the Clemson University Genomics and Bioinformatics facility (CUGBF) at the start of summer 2018 to smooth the void left when the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences divested in Clemson University Genomics Institute (CUGI). This started with our goal to support the research and education of Clemson researchers and students in wet lab genomics and bioinformatics. CUGBF will advance the College of Science\u2019s genomics-focused discovery and learning missions. We are building a strong foundation on which CUGBF can grow and benefit Clemson University.<\/p>\n
