It’s hard to say precisely where I am truly from, since I have lived in many states throughout the US, but Georgia is where I spent the most time growing up. I graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with my Bachelor’s degree in Biology in the winter of 2023, and then spent the next year in the industry working for a biotechnology company. My undergraduate research was mainly on the genetics causing certain Prion mutations. I joined the Witt lab in the fall of 2024 to pursue a PhD in the field of genetics with an emphasis on ancient DNA. Outside of the lab, I am a novelist and enjoy reading and various games, ranging from digital to tabletop.
Research Interests
My focus is mainly on human evolution and the various patterns on which the flow of DNA through populations can uncover human history. As such, while my first interest is in ancient human genomes, including Neanderthals and Denisovans, I am also interested in ancient domesticate genomes that were heavily influenced by humanity and how they can illuminate human interactions with the environment and migration patterns.
